ITServe Members Serve To Feed The Hungry At The NTFB

Event Details

Dallas, July 16, 2018 – On a recent Saturday morning, over 50 individuals associated with the ITServe Association descended on to the distribution center of the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) in South Dallas. In just 2.5 hours, this energetic team sorted and packed food items that enabled over 2,000 nutritious meals for food challenged children, senior citizens, and families having trouble making ends meet.

Early this year, ITServe DFW chapter, partnered with the Indian American Council for NTFB to fight hunger. In an unprecedented show of unity and community engagement, ITServe DFW companies volunteered together at NTFB, joining the growing group of Indian Americans who have stepped up to make a local impact in the spirit of “giving where we live”. ITServe DFW chapter organized this first of its kind service day on Saturday, June 30. “We partnered with the Indian American Council for North Texas Food Bank to help fight hunger in our communities here, in our adopted country”, said Sateesh Nagilla, Dallas Chapter President of ITServe Alliance.

The success of this volunteering outing reflects the giving spirit of ITServe members and their family who call North Texas their home. “The leadership of ITServe, largely made up of immigrant members, pledges to continue the fight against hunger and plans to conduct ITServe Days on a regular basis, especially after the NTFB distribution center moves to Plano in September of 2018.” said Gopi Kandukuri, National President of ITServe Alliance.

“We are overwhelmed with the enthusiastic participation by ITServe member companies and their family members. As leaders of global organizations, they are role models to immigrant community in US.” said Raj G. Asava, co-founder of the Indian American Council, “With the first million-meal milestone behind us, we know there is much more to be done to feed hungry children, seniors, and families in North Texas. Our Million Meal March doesn’t end here; this is just the beginning of many million meals that will be enabled by the Indian American Community. Thank you ITServe for joining in this fight against hunger and doing your part.”
